Hall Brook Farm was established in 2014 by Megan and Pheonix O’Brien. We originally started our business as the MOFGA Farmers in Residence, an incubator farm program on the MOFGA fairgrounds. We moved there with our two draft horses, Ben and Bob and set to it. Our goal from the start was to grow produce exclusively for wholesale markets; our second year in we began selling to Wholefoods Market in Portland, our biggest account to this day.

In 2017, we moved a mile down the road to a farm we purchased from the Berry family, the farm had been in their family since the 1890’s but they had decided they wanted to see it farmed by a family again and sold it to us!

We have made many improvements to the farm since. We have added many new greenhouses and in 2022 completed construction on a produce packing and storage facility. We no longer farm with horses, what we do would not be possible without the use of tractors. We went from one part time employee to as many as ten employees during the busiest summer months. We also added two little people to our family: Joas, born in 2019 and Nora, born in 2021!

When we set out our mission statement was to create a farm business that prioritized a healthy and sustainable environment for people, place and crops and we can truly say that although things look different in many ways than we imagined they would look when we started, we have truly kept our core values the same.
